Privacy notice

Who collects this information
The licensed insurance agency whose quote page you used. Their name is on that page and on the consent line above its submit button. They are the business that decides how this information is used.
What we collect, and only when you give it to us
From the quote form: your name, your business name if you enter one, your mobile number, your ZIP code, which coverage you asked about, and, if you tell us, the month your insurance renews.
Automatically, at the moment you submit: the page address, your browser’s user-agent string, and a one-way hash of your IP address. We store the hash rather than the address itself. Together with the exact wording of the consent checkbox, these form the record that you asked us to contact you.
If you arrived from an advertisement, we also keep the click identifier and the campaign tags that were in the link you followed, so we know which advert brought you here. They identify the click, not you.
If you check the text-message box, we also record the exact sentence you agreed to, word for word, along with the time you agreed to it.
Why we use it
To prepare the quote you asked for and to contact you about it, by phone and — only if you checked the box — by text message. That is the whole list.
We do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Who else sees it
Our service providers, and only so they can do the thing we asked them to do: the hosting and database platforms that store the record, and the telephone and text-messaging providers that place the call and deliver the message. When a call is transcribed, the transcription service that turns the audio into text sees what is said on it. They may not use your information for their own purposes.
Insurance carriers see your information only if you ask us to place coverage and tell us to submit an application.
How you use this page
We use PostHog, an analytics service, to see which pages are opened and how this form is used, so we can fix the parts of it that do not work. This includes a recording of the page as you move through it — where you scroll, what you click, and where you get stuck.
What you type is not in that recording. Every form field is masked before the recording leaves your browser, and so is the text on the page around it, so your name, your telephone number and your answers are never sent to the analytics service. We use it to understand the form, not to read what you put in it.
Text messages
Text messages are sent only if you checked the box on the form. Message frequency varies and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to stop them, or HELP for help. Stopping text messages does not withdraw your quote request; call or email us to withdraw that.
Calls
When you submit the form we call you about your request. How quickly depends on the agency, and the page you submitted tells you what to expect.
Later calls with the agency may be recorded and written down as a transcript. When that happens you will hear a spoken disclosure at the start of the call, before anything is captured, and you can hang up or ask us not to. The immediate callback that follows this form is never captured.
How long we keep it
Quote requests and the conversations that follow: five years from your last contact with us, which is the period California insurance record-keeping rules expect.
Consent and opt-out records: kept for as long as we are able to contact you, plus five years. These are what prove you asked to hear from us, and deleting them would leave us unable to show that we contacted you lawfully.
Your rights
If you are a California resident you may ask us what we hold about you, ask for a copy, ask us to correct it, and ask us to delete it. You may also ask us to limit how we use sensitive information. We will not treat you differently for asking.
To make a request, email privacy@coverrail.com from any address, or tell us on the phone. We will verify who you are before we act, usually by calling the number on file.
Changes
If we change this notice we will change the date at the top. Material changes that affect how we contact you will be described in plain language rather than folded into a revision.
